Ayurveda is the oldest and the most complete medical system known to man. It has been practiced for at least 5,000 years.

Its first written records go back to the time of the Vedas which are the most ancient spiritual scriptures available to humankind.

Already at the time of India's Indus Valley civilization around 3,000 BC, Indian medicinal plants were being traded to other countries.

Indigenous Indian seeds such as corriander have been found in the thombs of the Egyptian pharaohs and in Mezopotamia.

Meanwhile knowledge of India's plant pharmacopeia was being taken overland through Tibet to China.
